Messy Little Man!

Matt sure does love to get to messy and to create messes.  Here are a few pictures of a few of the messes I caught on film...or do we say caught on digital now since there is no film?  Hum.  In the first two pictures are wipes.  That was fun putting those back in!  The second is oatmeal...another fun clean up!  The last was totally my fault!  What was I thinking asking a 2 yr old to get me a paper towel?  But he was so pleased with himself for helping mommy.  :)

Goodbye Ones. Hello Twos.

Its hard to believe that it has been two years since Matthew Joshua joined our family.  And it has been even harder to believe that we have been in Cincinnati for a year now.

I have heard that the twos come with some pretty subborn and tough times.  But I have to tell you that Matt has been stubborn form the begining, so I am used to it.  I have learned that Matt just wants to do things in his own time, and when I let him, all if well.  So, I will not be pushing the potty training, because that will get us nowhere.  When he is ready, he will do it and it will be no big deal for him.  Matt is a sweet boy.  He already feels for others if they are sad or hurt, and he always wants to make it all better.  I think he will be an amazing older brother some day (God willing).  He loves his mama, and daddy and his cars.  But most of all, Matt loves his stuffed dog Henry who is his best friend.  I am so thankful for Henry.  He is a good friend to Matt when he is sad, scarred, or tired.  What a source of comfort for Matt (and I).  We have seen Matt grow in so many ways this past year.

Matt, your mom and dad love you very much.  We are so proud of the little man you are turning into.  We think you are the funniest and cutest thing ever!!!!!  We also know that you are very smart.  We are blessed to get to raise you and call you our son.  But can you please stop growing?

Ok, ok enough.  I know.  I'm close to getting really sappy!   So I'll stop.  Enjoy some recent pictures.

Can you tell found my camera cord?

Yep.  Found it.  Finally.

Here are a few pictures of Matt with his best friend, Henry.  Henry is Matt's comfort, his sleeping buddy, and his pillow!  Poor Henry is flat as a pancake in the morning.  Matt never takes a nap or goes to bed without Henry.  By the way, he came with that name...it is sowed onto his chest like an auto mechanic!  I have always wanted a son named Henry.  Is this God's sense of humor?!  :)

My Little Man

How funny is this?  Yes, he is "talking" on a Blackberry and check out his outfit!  Does he look like a little salesman or what?!

Three Day Weekends

Three day weekends are supposed to be all fun, no sickness.  My poor boys.  One (Josh) was sick for the last three day weekend we had and the other (Matt) was sick for this one.  We had plans to go see Matt's Nano and Bop (Josh's parents), but had to bail at the last minute.  I gave Matt my cold, AND he is teething.  Not a great combo for a 5-6 hour drive.  Sorry, Nano and Bop.  We will try again soon!  We did have some good family bonding, though.  We were able to take Matt to a few parks and the pool, to see his cousins, and to some yummy burger joints.  So the weekend was not a wash!

I feel so blessed to have been born into this amazing country.  I am so thankful for the men and women who have fought to keep our freedom.  I love the Fourth of July!  (Yes, I wore Red, White and Blue all day!).

I'm Back. Well, sort of.

No, don't worry.  You did click on the correct blog, and you are reading a new post!  I took a little time off from the blogging world, but I am back.  After a little nudging to update my blog, (thank you Mink Sisters and Gina), I'm back!

My blog is ugly.  I'm working on it.  Bare with me.  I have no idea what I'm doing with it at the moment, but I'm trying.  That's my new moto in life: "I'm trying".  I'm trying to keep the house clean.  I'm trying to do laundry (hate it).  I'm trying to cook yummy meals (love it).  I'm trying to be a good mom.  I'm trying to be a good wife.   I'm trying to learn about life with an almost 2 year old.  I'm trying to take care of myself.  I'm trying to make our old furniture fit into a house that it doesn't (that's a whole new blog for a whole new day).   I' trying to start a non-profit.  (More on that later).  All of this trying makes me tired at the end of the day, which is why I haven't blogged lately.

A quick update.  Matt is great.  He's getting so big and he is so fun.  He is pushing my buttons on a daily basis, and I try to hold strong.  I'm still holding out hope that he will like the pool by the end of the summer or it could e a long one!

Josh is great too.  He is such an amazing dad, and loves Matt so much.  I have fun sitting back and watching the two of them.  Just yesterday, I walked behind the two of them in the mall and watched them holding hands and strolling.  It gave me goosebumps.  I got to see the man I love more than anything with our son.  I wish I had my camera, but I have the best mental picture of it that I will carry with me forever.

Okay.  I'm done for now.  Check back soon.  I'll be posting on a regular basis.  I will need this for Matt someday since I never kept a baby book nor have I made a scrapbook for him.  Ugh.  Bad mama!

Grapefruit Obessed

I have a new obsession.  It's grapefruit.  I can't get enough of that smell!  Oh, my.  I LOVE grapefruit candles and lotion.  I can't find my candles right now, but I am craving them.  I will find that box today!  Or maybe tomorrow.  Hopefully by the end of the week.

I also LOVE cutting up that yummy fruit and putting a few slices in my water.  If you haven't tried it, do it!  Hurry!  Run to the store.  Get some grapefruit.  Grab a knife.  Cut.  Add water.  Yum!  (the longer you let it sit in the water, the stronger the flavor).

Anyone know any other Grapefruit things out there I might like?  I can't get enough!
